REVIVAL

REVIVAL
Rev. 2:1-5

Rev. 2:1: “Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
Re:2:2: I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:Re:2:3: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.Re:2:4: Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.Re:2:5: Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent”.

When we say Revival, what comes to mind is:
§  Somebody is fainting and need to be resurrected
§  Something loosing strength and need to be revamped
§  Standard falling and want to hold up.

As Christians, we need to live a particular lifestyle different from the place, people or this world because we do not belong here. Our standards are different and should be lived in this hostile, temporary environment. Eg. as in Noah and Lot days. That is why the world will continue to hate Christians through various means.

With the comforts of the world comes forgetfulness. Things wear out with time and environmental influence. As Christians we need to also check ourselves from time to time to endure that we are still in the faith.

We have to encourage ourselves to maintain a life that will qualify us for heaven- our final abode.

Who needs spiritual revival
God’s people- those who by faith in Jesus Christ have received salvation and belong to Him. (If you don’t know Him then you have to be born again)
Read Revelation 2:1-5 again

§  The Christians in Ephesus started well-  they had patience, labored and never fainted. But over the years, they lost sight of their savior. Their love for Christ deviated from righteous living. When there is separation of the trunk from the roots (Jn 15:1-7)
§   God wants us to love Him first and foremost. When we find ourselves trusting in people instead of our Lord Jesus Christ indicates our heart focus has shifted from Him or excuses or laziness to do the Lord’s. Our love for the world competes with love for Christ.

Like the Ephesians, we need a revival to restore us to our first love based on Christ and Him only.

Are you ready for a revival? Do you want to eat of the tree of life? Depend on Jesus Christ and Him only!  Amen.
