Are you a Christian? What shows
that your sins have been forgiven and now a child of God after the sinner’s
prayer? According to Revelation 3:20 and John 1:12, you are a child of God.
Your sins have been forgiven, If you said the prayer out of faith. You now have
to produce fruits of holy living in keeping with repentance.
Having known the relationship
that should exist between God and man, we should strive or it should be our
desire to maintain this relationship. One of the things that destroys or
prevents us from maintaining this relationship is sin. Sin robs us from the joy
in Christ Jesus. We will therefore look at what sin is and how to be forgiven
to forestall the joyous relationship between God and man.
What is Sin?
·
Sin is transgressing the law (i.e. word of God).
See
1 John 3:4
·
To him that knoweth good and doeth it not, sins.
See
James 4:17
What provision has
God made for sin?
·
If we confess our sins, God will forgive us.
Forget about the enormity of the sin, that it is so big you can’t be forgiven.
He is God and never lies. See 1 John 1:9. Therefore, the basis
of forgiveness is that we should confess and forsake it.
Why should the
Christian refrain from sin?
·
The Lord’s hand is not short to save us, neither
His ears far to hear us but our sins have separated us from Him. See
Isaiah 59:1&2. So that God’s grace may abound. See
Romans 6:1,2
·
God’s seed is in us. God never sins, so, as His
seed is in us, we should refrain from sin. See 1 John 3:9
How can we come out
of sin?
·
Man’s method (dangerous method) like Judas
hanged himself, thinking he will be free from sin. See matt. 27:3-5.
· God’s method (best method). Confess and forsake.
see
Psalm 51:1-12; Proverb 28:13
Finally, Christians have been called to a life of Holiness.
Therefore we should get rid of sin the right way to enjoy the joyous fellowship
with God. Sin is treacherous and must be dealt with in the power of the Holy
Spirit- our next topic.
